Bridgewater State has big day at the plate in baseball win

The Bridgewater State men?s baseball team?s lineup has been warming up with the weather during its annual spring break trip to Vero Beach, Fla.

On Friday, the Bears (6-3) continued to assault opposing pitchers as they eased past Penn State Fayette, 10-3.

Led by Sean Riley and Jason Gilmore, who had three hits apiece, the Bears pounded out a 13-hit attack in as both also knocked in two runs for Bridgewater State.

David Pierce added two hits and two RBI in the win.

On the mound, Andy Sadoski (2-0) pitched two perfect innings of relief.

Massasoit 13, Rochester College JVs 1: The Warriors opened their Florida trip with a win led by Eric MacIver, who got the win on the mound, going six innings and allowing only two hits. It marked the 10th straight win for MacIver dating back to last season.

Chris Rosa had three doubles and 4 RBI, Kingston's Zach Smith added three hits and drove in two runs and Matt Bresnahan had two hits and two stolen bases.

Assumption 2, Stonehill 1; Assumption 7, Stonehill 1:

Senior Michael White pitched the complete-game loss in the opener allowing eight hits over seven innings.

In the nightcap, Brockton?s Bryan Galligan took the mound loss as he gave up four runs on five hits over 32/3 innings with five strikeouts. Freshman reliever Steve Pike of Stoughton pitched a scoreless sixth inning.

WRESTLING

BSU?s Walsh falls at NCAA Div. 3 wrestling championships: Bridgewater State?s Patrick Walsh, of Stoughton, dropped both of his matches in the opening round of the tournament in La Crosse, Wisc. The junior heavyweight lost, 8-2, to Logan Renas of Olivet College in the first ruond and 7-4 to Conner Herman of Luther College to finish 15-3.

WOMEN?S LACROSSE

Fredonia State 15, Bridgewater State 8: The Bears dropped to 0-2 in West Palm Beach, Fla. Taylor Clancy and Sammi Salverio each scored twice for Bridgewater State.
